La Tasca
About This Spot
La Tasca settles in comfortably on a quiet corner of Santa Catalina, a small restaurant where warmth greets you as naturally as the subtle hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses. It’s a place that invites a slower pace—where the rhythm isn’t hurried but thoughtful, making room for people to savor not just food but a sense of belonging. The space might feel modest, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in personality and genuine hospitality.
Walking in, you sense a familiarity that goes beyond the décor — a feeling shaped by the attentive owner-chef who quietly tends to each table, offering more than service: a personal touch that transforms a meal into a human moment. The atmosphere carries traces of Mediterranean charm, with a menu that flows like a conversation between Spanish and Italian inspirations, yet rooted in the heart of Arequipa.
Here, dishes arrive as part of a shared experience rather than a mere plate of food. Expect carefully composed creations where fresh vegetables mingle with hearty spices and tender meats, often accompanied by a glass of something homemade and thoughtfully prepared. Meals are neither rushed nor fussy; they settle comfortably on your table, encouraging pauses and appreciation. Portions are generous without feeling overwhelming, making it easy to leave content yet eager to return.
The spirit of La Tasca resonates in every corner: from the bright simplicity of a vegetable appetizer to the comforting warmth of a richly layered lasagne or the delicate textures of seafood fideuá. This is a place where food invites quiet celebration — a humble setting for those who cherish honest flavors combined with genuine smiles and sincere conversation.

Came here for lunch and was amazed by the quality and value of the food (2 courses for 25 Soles). The owner/chef is so friendly and happy and made the whole experience. The pork on the mushroom risotto was some of the best I have ever had!

We came to this restaurant in the early December of 2024 after seeing it recommended by many people online, and we were not disappointed. This was our first time to try Spanish cuisine. From appetizer to main dishes and to desserts, everything was beautiful and tasty. The homemade drinks and desserts were very unique. The boss was kind and the service is attentive. Though the restaurant is small, it is worth recommending.

From start to finish an amazing experience. We had the set menu for 25 sol which is a steal for the quality and size of food. 10/10. Couldn’t ask for more.

What a great little restaurant with delicious, high quality food at a reasonable price. The lunch menu offers a choice of four starter dishes, four main dishes, and a drink and dessert of the day for 25 soles. The food appears to be Spanish/Italian/Mediterranean food. There are both meat and vegetables options and the owner is open to assist with food allergies to alter menu items if possible. We shared our meal and had the mixed, roasted vegetables and the Moussaka. Both were excellent. We’re were served a fruit drink, maybe cranberry juice, and a small slice of flan. There are only 5-6 table and it can get full quickly. The atmosphere is lovely and calm. The only word of caution is I would not recommend going here if you are in a hurry as there is only the owner working and service can take awhile. I highly recommend La Tasca for a great meal at a great price. Edit: We visited a second time and wow, very consistent and did not disappoint. La Tasca is hands-down one of our favorite lunch restaurants and a great value.

Lovely restaurant and the food was amazing. The staff were really attentive and quick to serve the food. They do a set menu which includes a starter, main and a small dessert for 25 SOL. The soup was delicious and we were really impressed with both of the mains we ordered.

Really good value at 25 soles for a full 3-course meal plus what looked like grenadine syrup to drink. Started with a hot baked veggie appetizer, then had lasagna as the main dish. Dessert was interesting - seemed like a beige English sauce topped with some kind of cakey fluff. Nice personal touch from the Spanish owner who came directly to our table and walked us through the menu, offering it in both English and Spanish. Everything came piping hot straight from the oven and was definitely worth what we paid. Was especially nice to get some vegetables in the meal.

We had a delicious 3 course meal for only 25 soles each. Good vegetarian options too.
